The Link To Now

The crowds are finally dwindling and we've enjoyed some peaceful days on the trail these past few weeks. Of course there are the normal bunches of folks at the beginning and at the end. But if you stick with it and venture out just a little further there are stretches you can have all to yourself. A couple of lonely miles or maybe even several if the timing is right. I think we hiked three or four without another soul in our sight. We bounced along in the yellow light of autumn and solved our immediate problems at least. Thanksgiving is behind us but Christmas is still in front of us and I kind of enjoy this time when fellow hikers are a bit more friendly, extending holiday greetings and maybe even stopping to catch up. Its not too hot and we can wear our fancy fleeces which we don't get the opportunity to don very often.
